The BIG Donut (Disney Movie - Zootopia/Zootropolis) 0% oil with Air Fryer!

Disney movie (Zootopia): Zootopia (titled Zootropolis in various regions) is a 2016 American computer-animated buddy cop film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 55th Disney animated feature film, directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, co-directed by Jared Bush, and stars the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Jenny Slate, Nate Torrence, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Tommy Chong, J. K. Simmons, Octavia Spencer, Alan Tudyk, and Shakira. Taking place in the titular city where anthropomorphic mammals coexist, it tells a story of an unlikely partnership between a rabbit police officer and a red fox con artist as they uncover a criminal conspiracy involving the disappearance of predators.

DONUT INGREDIENTS:

  • 200g all-purpose flour

  • 10g brown sugar

  • 2g instant yeast

  • 3g salt

  • 130ml milk

  • 15g unsalted butter


CHOCOLATE GLAZE INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 TBS unsalted butter

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 cup powdered sugar (reduced by 50%, you can add 2 cups if you like)

  • 1/3 cup milk

  • 1/2 TSP vanilla extract

  • Rainbow sprinkles (for topping)

PINK FORSTING INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 TBS unsalted butter

  • 1/2 TSP vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cups powdered sugar

  • 1/2 TSP milk

  • Red food coloring


INSTRUCTIONS:


1. Place 200g all-purpose flour in a large bowl. Then add in salt and sugar separately from the yeast. It is very important to keep the yeast away from salt and sugar to prevent inconsistency on the dough.



2. Mix the salt and sugar with the flour then mix the yeast and flour. Next, mix everything together.

3. Add in milk and stir gently until everything is incorporated.

4. Now, cover the bowl with a plastic wrap or kitchen towel and let it rest for 20 minutes.



5. Next, add in the butter and we can start kneading. Knead for at least 15 - 20 minutes. When dough is mixed, the proteins in the flour combine with the milk/water to form gluten. Kneading the dough will enable the gluten to form a network of chains which will help to make the dough texture strong and elastic. "Slap and fold" technique is my go-to kneading technique for a wet dough. It is very effective and it strengthen the dough rather quickly.

6. Cover the dough with a plastic wrap or kitchen towel and let it rest for 1 hour 20 minutes or until double in size.


7. Flatten the dough to let all the air out and form the dough into a flat circle. Make a hole in the middle to create a donut shape.


8. Place the dough on a baking sheet and into preheated air fryer, 180°C. Bake for 15 - 20 minutes.


9. Next, let's prepare the chocolate glaze and pink frosting. Add the butter into a bowl and beat for 2-3 minutes or until the butter is smooth using electric mixer. Then add in powdered sugar (half cup at a time). Continue to mix until incorporated.

10. Stir in the milk, vanilla extract and cocoa powder. Increase the speed to medium and beat for another 5 minutes or until the texture is light and fluffy. Repeat this step for the pink frosting.

11. Apply the chocolate glaze on the big donut.

12. Top with some rainbow sprinkles on top.

13. Finally, put the pink frosting into a piping bag and write 'THE BIG DONUT" on top of it.
