CHICKEN SHAWARMA WRAP | THE AVENGERS 2012 πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈ


The Avenger (2012): Thor's evil brother, Loki gain access gains access to the unlimited power of the energy cube called the Tesseract, Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. So he initiates a superhero recruitment effort to defeat the unprecedented threat to Earth. Joining Fury's "dream team" are Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, the Black Widow and Hawkeye.


"You ever try Shawarma? There's a Shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is but I want to try it" - Iron Man (The Avengers, 2012)



If you have notice, after the end credits in Avengers film, there is actually an added scene where the Avengers sit down together and enjoy some Shawarma. No talking or conversation, no background music. It's just them sitting around a table at a destroyed restaurant eating their food in silence while the employees clean up debris.


Shawarma (Shah-wer-maa) is a a Levantine Arab dish consisting of meat cut into thin slices, stacked in a cone-like shape, and roasted on a slowly-turning vertical rotisserie or spit. Originally made with lamb, mutton or chicken. It is one of the world's most popular street foods, especially in Egypt, the countries of the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan.



This scene is awkwardly funny and is my favorite scene so far. Now, I want to eat some Shawarma! πŸ˜‚


SHAWARMA CHICKEN MARINADE INGREDIENTS (for 2 px):

  • 1 boneless chicken thighs (trimmed)

  • 1 TSP cumin

  • 1 TSP paprika powder

  • 1/2 TSP cinnamon powder

  • 1 TPS turmeric powder

  • 1 TSP garlic powder

  • 1 TBS lemon juice

  • 1/4 TSP cayenne powder

  • 1 TSP salt

  • 1TSP black pepper

  • 3 cloves garlics

  • 3 TBS olive oil


WHITE SAUCE INGREDIENTS:

  • 200g mayonnaise

  • 1 TBS vinegar

  • 4 cloves garlics

  • 1/4 TSP salt

  • 1/4 TSP black pepper

  • 1 TBS sugar

  • 1/4 cup water


FOR SERVINGS:

  • Pita bread (warmed)

  • Cucumber (sliced)

  • Tomato (sliced)

  • Pickles



INSTRUCTIONS:


1. Mix all the marinade ingredients to the chickens and marinade for 1 - 10 hours in the fridge.


2. Broil the chicken for 12 - 18 minutes. Set aside.

3. Now, let's make the white sauce. Add the vinegar into the mayonnaise and mix until combined.

4. Then, add in garlics, salt, black pepper, sugar and water. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

5. After 30 minutes, strain the sauce and set aside.

6. Now that all ingredients ready, time to make some Shawarma! 🀩 Spread some white sauce on the pita bread and add in the cooked chicken.

7. Top the chicken with sliced tomatoes followed by sliced cucumbers.

8. Next, place the pickles on its sides and pour more sauce on top of the cucumber. Roll up tight and eat!

You can also add in 2 - 3 different meat in your shawarma wrap with rice and salads on the side. Enjoy your meal!
